“Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t, you’re right” (versions of this have been accredited to a few people, including Henry Ford and Mary Kay Ash among others).

This statement is so true with everything in life and worth thinking about all on its own, before you take the next steps.  Believing that you can do something is key (#mindset), alongside a #vision of knowing where you want to go.  If you know what you are aiming for, coupled with self belief and action, there is a much stronger chance of getting it.

This is FEAR, everyone has it so let’s tackle it head on!

It’s your choice!  We see so many people who really do want a #careerchange but don’t ever start because they are so scared of failing or think that they can’t do it.  Or worse still, worry about what other people think – now that is a waste of time.   We all doubt ourselves, that’s totally normal, it’s how you respond to that fear that matters.  You either let the fear keep you where you are and you already know that you’re not happy in your job.  Or you acknowledge the fear and do it anyway.  Every time you worry about something, ask yourself, “What’s the worst thing that can happen?”.  You ultimately try something and it doesn’t work out – so what??  No one ever really achieved anything by not failing.  Genuinely failure is an essential part of success, so fail quicker and get where you want more quickly.

We totally understand that most people have responsibilities – a mortgage, children, are the breadwinner and so on.  We are not going to tell you that being positive alone will help you get what you want.  However doing things / taking action from a positive place, with an end goal in mind, are essential to your own success.  If you start with a negative mindset, you’ve already decided your fate!  The key to this is to know where you are going and take steps to get you there, whether that be upskilling, volunteering, etc.  With planning (being the operative word) and vision, you can take steps to get you closer to where you want.

Your tribe – They are invaluable!!  Often when you are trying to make a significant change , the people closest to you aren’t necessarily your best supporters.  They have the best intentions but have almost pigeon holed you into a certain role.  Or they unintentionally judge as they wouldn’t  necessarily make the same decisions e.g. leave a successful stable career for the unknown.  The majority of them are just genuinely worried for you as they don’t want you to make a “bad” choice but their fear often cripples your choices.  So pick who you share your dreams with wisely – you don’t want other people’s fears to stop you in your tracks.  Ultimately you don’t want to have any regrets – it’s your journey.  Whenever panic sets in, again ask yourself “What’s the worst thing that can happen?” and then “What’s the best thing that can happen?”  .  The answers usually spur you on.

There are so many brilliant books out there that tackle this topic.  An absolute favourite at the moment is  is Everything is figureoutable by the brilliant Marie Forleo – totally recommend reading this book for anyone who feels “stuck”.
